Motoring in Scotland, 1924: Ferries & Brake Failure?
This small set of photographs I obtained in negative form, held in an attractive wallet supplied by "J.B. Watson, 5 Frederick Street, Edinburgh." There is no indication as to who took the 10 photos, nor where they were, but it is dated in pencil 11-4-24.
The locations certainly look like Scotland, possibly even quite far north, and they give a revealing picture, in their small way, of what it was like to negotiate the roads in those days.

The Hazards - Brake Failure?
It looks as if you need half-a-dozen men to negotiate hills when your brakes fail!

"Scottish Automobile Meet at Philiphaugh." A splendid sight, the postcard sent in 1907.
