I have recently obtained a copy of Isaak Tirion's map of Scotland which I believe was first issued in 1744. This happens to be the year in which Alexander Bryce's landmark map of the north coast of Scotland was published. Tirion's map also happens to be one of the least accurate to have been published in the 16th and 17th centuries, at least as far as the north of the country is concerned. It therefore makes a fitting comparison to the Bryce map, which I describe in some detail in the first chapter of my book, The Immeasurable Wilds, soon to be published. Please see my page 'Tirion/Bryce-2 maps' on this website.
