Landseer, Sentimentalism and the Highlands.

On Friday, we are returning to Edinburgh for 10 days, and I may not be adding much to this website while we are up there. In the meantime here are a few thoughts on Sir Edwin Landseer, inspired by a slightly garish chromolithograph c.1860. Titled "The Pet Fawn" it is in fact after a painting by Landseer of 1837, called "The Sutherland Children." Please see my page, "Landseer's Fawn."
