A Klibreck Photo Album, 1901 - 1912.

"Klibreck Lodge". One might have expected the family to be based here, but there is no indication that that was the case.

I suspect this is a view on the River Vagasie, which runs parallel to the main road from Lairg to Tongue, beneath Ben Kilbreck 9as it is now known).
"Vagasty Falls." This looks very much like a favourite picnic spot that my parents enjoyed on their way to Talmine.

This page shows a selection of photos taken from a private album. The only date I can find is 1912, later in the album, but it starts with photos of boats present at Queen Victoria's funeral, which suggests 1901. I suspect the family lived in England, but they obviously made regular journeys to Klibreck. It is not clear where they stayed: there are photos of 'the Farm', and another of the Lodge (possibly now called Altnaharra Lodge), but judging by the number of photos of shooting trips, and dogs in action, they were clearly 'well-heeled', and up there for some sport. The photographs in general are not groundbraking, but this is an area barely mentioned in accounts, and the photos further north - of Tongue in particular - are lovely.
